Two dead boys playing detectives. Sounds like a terrible idea, right? Spoiler: it’s even worse. But if you’re into supernatural noir, you might actually survive this show.
Being dead is boring, so why not be a detective?
Imagine being dead. Yeah, not great, right? Now imagine you’re dead and solving mysteries in the afterlife. That’s the premise of Dead Boy Detectives, a series where two boys, Charles and Edwin, decide that resting in peace is overrated. Instead, they spend their ghostly days solving supernatural crimes. Because, let’s face it, eternity is a long time, and who wants to be bored?
The series dives headfirst into paranormal chaos with a mix of dark humor and mystery, following the duo as they tackle cases that would make even Scooby-Doo shiver. But don’t worry, we’re not talking about jump-scares galore. It’s more like an adventure where logic gets tossed out the window – along with half the good sense. You might not love it, but if you enjoy a bit of dark humor, you’ll find this ghostly mess oddly charming.
When dying isn’t enough for a good rest
Forget classic detectives with trench coats and black coffee. Here we’ve got Charles and Edwin, two boys who decide that instead of chilling in the afterlife, it’s way more fun to solve murders. Yes, you heard that right: they’re dead, but that doesn’t stop them from acting like two low-budget Sherlock Holmes.
What makes this series stand out is its tone. The protagonists never take themselves seriously, and neither does the plot. Every episode is a wild ride into the supernatural, with sharp quips and cases that defy logic. It’s the perfect mix of comedy and mystery, sprinkled with a healthy dose of the absurd. And yes, at some point, you’ll probably wonder if you could be a detective from the afterlife… or maybe just feel a little dead inside.
Chilling cases and lots of laughs
No spoilers here, but let’s just say Charles and Edwin are far from being the brightest detectives you’ll ever meet. Each episode is a new investigation, and, of course, everything goes wrong before they figure things out. These two boys face the paranormal in a way that will make you laugh (and maybe shiver).
The plot flows nicely with a mix of mystery and supernatural chaos that never takes itself too seriously. There are ghosts, demons, and plenty of mayhem, but it’s all balanced with humor that makes the series fun to watch, even in its weirdest moments.
A show that makes you laugh and shiver at the same time
Dead Boy Detectives isn’t your typical crime series, but if you like dark humor and macabre stories, you’ll find a lot to love here. The show’s strength is in how it handles the supernatural with irony, never crossing into the ridiculous, but playing with the afterlife’s paradoxes.
In short, if you enjoy a bit of supernatural craziness and don’t mind the idea of two ghostly detectives solving crimes, this might just be the show for you.
Laughs and the paranormal
This series is a breath of fresh air for anyone tired of the usual detective stories. Don’t expect anything realistic here, but rather a mix of mystery, madness, and sharp humor. The cinematography, costumes, and overall production are solid, giving it that dark vibe without going overboard.
If there’s a downside, it’s the show’s tendency to go over the top at times. Some situations feel forced, but the well-written characters and light tone balance things out. If you’re a fan of supernatural noir and dark humor, this series is for you.

Why I Recommend It
I recommend it because it’s a series that laughs in the face of death and invites us to do the same. With mysteries and dark humor, you’ll get a good dose of entertainment, especially if you enjoy stories that highlight human flaws… even when the protagonists are already a bit too naked (as in dead).
Why I Don't Recommend It
I don’t recommend it if you’re looking for a serious drama with real detectives. Here, logic has been thrown out the window. If you don’t enjoy dark humor or the supernatural, it’s better to skip this one.
